We’re almost ready to confirm details of our training sessions and coaches for our 2021 Winter Outdoor teams. But in the meantime we have a range of pre-season activities underway, or about to commence, across all of our Junior age groups in the coming few weeks. Please note that most of these sessions are not the start of the Winter season training; they are designed to let our Juniors dust off their hockey stick and take to the field ahead of our long-awaited return to competitive hockey.
Most of these sessions are free to attend, and all are taking place at our home ground. However, if you are interested in attending any of these sessions, please ensure that you have registered with Hockey Victoria (and while you are there, please register with YVHC as well) to ensure that you have medical insurance. Registration details are here: https://www.yarravalleyhockey.com.au/registration. We also encourage our Junior members to bring along any friends who may be interested in joining the Yabbies this year.

Starting on Feb. 23, Taysen Wilcox, a long-time coach at the club, began overseeing a back-to-hockey program for our U10 and U12 players. These sessions, which are running each Tuesday from 5:30 - 6:30pm until March 9, are suitable for younger players that have not played much competitive hockey in the past.
Starting this Thursday Feb. 25, George Doig, our long-time U12 Shield coach, will be overseeing hockey sessions for U12 and U14 boys from 5:30 - 6:30pm each Thursday. This will also run for three weeks. Our Junior girls in these age groups are welcome to attend.
Starting on March 9, Adi Glancy, the YVHC Women’s Senior Coach, will be overseeing hockey sessions for girls in the U12s-and-above age groups from 5:30 - 6:30pm each Tuesday. This will be our regular training day and time for the whole Winter season. A number of coaches will be assisting Adi.
Starting on Thursday Feb. 25, senior men's player Kin Smith will be holding coaching sessions for our U16s and U18s boys between 5:30pm and 6:30pm each Thursday until March 11.
Starting Thursday Feb. 25, all players who are eligible to play U16 and U18s either this year or last year are also invited to join in training with our senior men’s teams. These sessions, which will run every Thursday night between 6:45pm and 8:30pm, are a great opportunity for our older Juniors get a taste of what senior hockey is all about and get to know some of our senior team members.
